dental van

We are excited to announce that Help A Child Smile, a mobile dental care program, will be visiting Mount Carmel Elementary School on January 16, 2026 to provide students with on-site dental services during the school day.

This important program brings licensed dental professionals directly into schools to deliver high-quality preventive care — including cleanings, exams, fluoride treatments, sealants, and X-rays if needed. Treatment is provided at no cost to the school, and services are often covered by Medicaid, PeachCare, and most private insurance. For children without coverage, financial assistance may also be available.

Why This Matters:
More than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental problems. Untreated tooth decay can cause pain, difficulty eating, sleep loss, and distraction in class — all of which affect learning. By offering dental care on campus, students can receive essential treatment without missing valuable instruction time, and families avoid the challenge of scheduling and traveling to appointments.

How to Enroll:
Parents have two convenient options:

1. Complete the Consent Form
A paper form will be sent home in your child’s backpack inside the Tuesday Folder on November 18, 2025. Please complete and return it as soon as possible.

2. Enroll Online:

(Available in English and Spanish)

What to Expect:
On the day of the visit, students who are enrolled will be called to the Dental Van during the school day. After the appointment, you’ll receive a dental report explaining what services were performed and any follow-up care that may be needed.

By participating in this program, you’re helping ensure your child maintains a healthy smile — which supports both their well-being and their success in school.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
